Medical Insurance

Davis Cartage Company offers two BCBS Community Blue PPO choices, PPO-1 and PPO-3 for you and your eligible dependents after a 90-day probationary period.  Our medical package includes prescription coverage, as well as a standard or enhanced dental and vision program.  Choose the coverage that best works for you and your family.  Contributions are deducted weekly on a pre-tax basis to save you additional income.  Employees that waive medical coverage receive the single rate paid out each month.

Medical Options and Weekly Deductions

Dental Insurance

Our Dental Insurance is Traditional Plus BCBS of Michigan.  The Standard Plan provides 50/50/50 coverage; and the Enhanced Plan provides 100/75/50 coverage for Class I, II and III type services.

Vision Insurance

Our Vision Insurance is VSP (Vision Service Plan) BCBS of Michigan.   The Standard Plan provides coverage once every 24 months; and our Enhanced Plan provides coverage once each year.

Life and Short-Term Disability (STD)

Davis Cartage provides basic life and accidental death insurance, $10,000 on all hourly personnel; $5,000 on their spouse/children at no cost to you.

We also provide short-term disability insurance, $125/week for a maximum of 13 weeks for all eligible employees.

Both plans are offered through Mutual of Omaha and have a buy-up feature.

401(k) Retirement Plan

Davis Cartage Company has a 401(k) plan through First Mercantile Trust of Tennessee.  After a 6-month qualifying period, Davis contributes 6% of your gross wages into the 401(k) plan.   You may make payroll contributions up to the allowable IRS amounts.

There is a 6-year vesting period.  Once vested, employees may take loans against their account for qualifying reasons.
